My name is Ivory and I am 33 years old. I live on the outer edges of Tacoma, Wa. I am a wife, a mother and a Jesus girl.I have been married for almost 8 years and we have 3 kiddos: 1 boy, he is 5 and 2 girls; they are 2 and 1 and it is crazy busy around here. Our last one just snuck up on us and she is the best gift to our family.
I was diagnosed with colon cancer this last May so this season of motherhood has been a stretch of faith and letting others into my space of parenting and having to trust others to love my kids well.
Talk about an adventure in motherhood. During this season my biggest support came from my husband and a few close friends. They constantly reminded me that I cannot do this thing alone and that I, no matter what season of life that I am in, am the best mother for them. Right?!? Isn’t that what we all want? To know that we are the best moms for our kids. That no matter what we face as mothers we are giving it all we got, and that my motherhood and your motherhood looks completely different but we are all in this together and that is what makes this whole thing beautiful.
You, Me, loving our kids and laying down our lives. Motherhood has stretched me beyond my own capabilities and I have learned that every mom feels that way and that it’s okay. We are all falling apart and getting back up to start a brand new day with our coffee or tea in hand.
Motherhood has also taught me that I as a person still matter and that I have to protect who I am and not lose myself completely in diapers and wiping butts. HA!
I love to write out the words on my heart, I love a good cup a coffee with the exact right amount of creamer. I am leaning into my more artistic side. Painting, playing the cello, and pretending to be a popstar in my bathroom mirror. I enjoy loud conversations. I love finding good music and poetry. I am learning to dance again and to workout (like weight lifting) and I am finding it to be a great stress reliever in this season of motherhood. Also yoga.
Northwest Mamahood admires your strength, persistence, resilience, and exuberant heart! You’re an amazing, attentive mother whose journey inspires us all. NWMH sees you mama; keep up the fantastic work!!!
